Parent Letter

 

 

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am so excited to be a member of the team here at Florence Middle School and I am even more excited to have your child in my class. I completed my undergraduate work at Texas A&M Central Texas in 2011 and graduated in May 2014 with my Masters in Educational Leadership.  I live in Florence and thoroughly enjoy being a proud parent of a ten-year-old little boy, Rex, and eight-year-old little girl, Lyla. For five years I taught third grade at Haynes Elementary in Killeen. This is now my fourth year here at Florence Middle School, after spending three years teaching math and science for the fifth grade at the elementary here in Florence. I am so excited to be teaching in the community in which I live!!

We will be studying and working on many exciting things this year.  It promises to be a fun packed time!! Most importantly, the students will be taking an active role in learning!!

My pledge to our students:

  • I will greet students each morning with a smile, and will be generous with my smiles throughout the day.
  • I will look for opportunities to reward and praise students for their work and good behavior.
  • I will not show favoritism, and will try to be fair to all.
  • I will try to make classroom instruction as interesting as possible and look for new and diverse ways of presenting materials.
  • I will maintain a positive atmosphere for learning.
  • I will treat all students with respect.
  • I will make myself available and approachable to students.

I invite the opportunity for parental involvement and promise to be available to you as well. My conference period is daily from 1:25 pm to 2:00 pm, and I will also be available before or after school. All coursework will be available online through Canvas and all grades will be available online as well through the Skyward Family Access Portal.  Feel free to email or call to make an appointment to meet with me.
